Letters from Japan is the Japan-focused newsletter connected to my website, Letters from Asia, my main platform where I publish most of my content – travel writing and photography from Japan and beyond. // This is the paid-subscriber resource page connected to the newsletter Letters from Japan. This page aims to display newsletter posts (also published on Substack) and series available exclusively to paid subscribers in a more accessible, organized, and easy-to-browse format. This post provides a more detailed explanation of the rationale behind this page. //  In addition to the monthly letters available to all newsletter subscribers (for a month post-publication, and paywalled after), paid subscribers have access to the Travel Diaries series, which includes the One Fine Day city series as well as multi-day trip itineraries. // The current ones in the One Fine Day city category are a one-day trip itinerary covering Kanazawa, titled One Fine Day in Kanazawa“, and another one titled “One Fine Day in Nagasaki”, which offers three different walking routes to explore the city`s atomic bomb history, Western heritage, and Chinese legacy. Another post with a similar approach is “One Fine Autumn Day in Kyoto”, which explores the city’s fall foliage viewing spots in a diary-style post. There is also “One Fine Autumn Day in Tokyo” post serving the same purpose for the capital. // As for the multi-day trip itineraries, the current ones include “Blue Forests of Japan: Autumn Trip to Aomori,” sharing my annual fall foliage trip itinerary to Tohoku’s northernmost prefecture, and “Tohoku Onsen Hopping,” introducing some historical hot spring stays in the region. Written in the diary style, there are also Hiking the Kyoto Trail Series, as well as the account of a Winter Trip to Biei in Hokkaido. The earliest post in this category is an eight-post series covering a walking trip to the Goto Islands of Nagasaki to explore sites related to Hidden Christianity in Japan. // There is also a separate series that focuses on Japan Trip Planning – including Transportation, Accommodation, and other commonly asked questions. Another planning-focused post“Cycling the Shimanami Kaido in Two Days,” covers Japan’s most beloved bicycle route. // To unlock the archive on Substack and below, and to access the new series, here are the subscription options: Letters from Japan.
